Billiard Club

The history of the Chattanooga Billiard Club starts back in 1982. Owner Philip Windham opened the first club on a one way street in a building in downtown Chattanooga on the second floor.

That first club had an old-style poolroom feel to it, with a small presence of hustlers and pool sharks. However, Mr. Windham recognized that the pool hall vibe would have to change in order to develop a following of loyal customers and attract new customers. To improve the club’s overall image, he had to eliminate some of the more unsavory customers and work on the club’s appearance. Once that was accomplished, the club began to grow into a local downtown favorite of business professionals.

With a target market of the business and professional community in mind, Mr. Windham decided to build a dream club, and he wanted to build it in the Hamilton Place area. That was where most of the restaurant and commercial activity was growing in Chattanooga at the time. Eventually, in 1992, he opened the modern and well-decorated CBC East, equipping it with professional-level pool tables and an upscale bar and restaurant.

Finally, Chattanooga had a well-lit, friendly, and upscale place to enjoy billiards. This ultimately helped CBC stand out as a premier billiard club.

By broadening its target market to a wider range of income levels, CBC East quickly became the favorite of all Chattanoogans who enjoy the ancient sport of billiards. It became a family entertainment center.

CBC’s Goal is Simple:

to provide the highest quality experience a guest can ever have in a billiard club – an event that each guest wants to experience again, and again, and again.
